RECENT signing Scott Turner bagged the winner as Lads Club secured an impressive win against AFC Ludlow.

Turner shot into the roof of the net after 15 minutes at Widemarsh Common to take the Hereford side to within a point of their third-placed opponents in West Midlands (Regional) League Division 1.

Lads Club just about deserved the win but AFC Ludlow fought them all the way despite seeing Luke Hicks red-carded for an alleged elbow.

The first half was pretty even with a couple of snap shots from AFC Ludlow going wide.

Apart from the goal from Turner, youngster Lewis Fletcher saw his effort hit the side netting and Kalum Wildig’s shot was easily saved.

Lads Club started the better of the teams in the second half and Fletcher was having a lot of joy down the right-hand flank.

But they were finding the second goal hard to come by and another Fletcher strike at the front post was well saved by Havard.

Hicks’ red card then seemed to rally AFC Ludlow and a few tackles were flying around. But again Lads Club were wasting chances with Steve Dixon through on goal and Havard touching the ball on to a post and wide.

Nathan Hodge came off the bench to boost AFC Ludlow following a lengthy lay-off, but he could not find the elusive equaliser.

Meanwhile, Bartestree shared 10 goals in their 5-5 thriller against Wyrley.
