WELLINGTON stormed into the final of the HFA County Challenge Cup following a resounding win against Bromyard Town on Tuesday night.

Despite the tricky conditions, which saw flurries of snow falling at times, Wellington powered past their lower-graded opponents in the second half.

Aaron Morgan opened the scoring for Welly after only five minutes, but Bromyard levelled on the 33rd minute mark. But Wellington stormed back and went into the half-time back 2-1 to the good following a header from Ben Thomas.

Bromyard’s task became even more difficult when they had a player sent-off, which resulted in Welly putting the game to bed.

Paul Jones grabbed two goals, with Josh Hunt also getting in the scoresheet to complete the 5-1 win and book a date with Westfields in the final.

The final is still set to be played on the traditional Easter Monday date, but as of yet no venue has been confirmed.

"I'm hoping it will still be Edgar Street, but we will have to wait and see," said Wellington manager Derek Williams.

"We will go into the game with no fear and have got nothing to lose.

"This is the fourth or fifth time we have got to the final and have beaten Westfields once. It keeps both teams seasons alive."

The victory means that Wellington have now scored 18 goals in their last three games."
