KINGTON Town manager Shaun Harris has received a commemorative jacket for winning the West Midlands (Regional) League Division Two team of the month award for October.

The Mill Street side are fourth in the league table having only lost four games this season.

But with games in hand on all the sides above them, Harris has targeted promotion.

"We had a bit of a slow start, but are looking really strong at the moment," said Harris.

"I set out at the start of the season to try and get promotion.

"A month in and I had another look and thought, if we could aim to be in and around the top four or five by Christmas, then we would have done well.

"We achieved that so now there is no reason why we cannot finish first or second.

"Our aim now is to try and win it.

"We have got three games in hand of Darlaston, who are top, and two in hand of Malvern Town under-21, who are third.

"We have got Darlaston coming up, so if we beat them it will put us in a strong position."

Harris, who is in his second season in the hot-seat, believes a settled team is helping his side's cause.

"We have a balanced side now because at the start of the season we didn't really have a recognised striker," said Harris.

"I have brought in 11 new players and they have integrated into the team well."

This Saturday, Kington entertain Newport Town, who are a place below them in the table in fifth.

Heavy morning rain saw Bromyard Town's home match against Lads Club in Division One postponed.

Bartestree also saw their game at Trysull called off.
