POOR finishing proved costly for Westfields who were held to a 1-1 draw at Stourport in the Midland Football League Premier Division.

The city side only had a Craig Jones penalty to show for their efforts and finished the game with 10 men after defender Joel Edwards was sent off late on.

Westfields had early chances with Matt Reeve's drive coming out off a post and then Jamie Cuss heading wide with only the home goalkeeper to beat.

Tom Boyle sent a shot just over but Edwards missed the best chance when he headed wide of the target from in front of goal.

Cuss missed another good opening just before the interval but it was Stourport who were foiled in the early stages of the second period when Matt Gwynne pulled off a fine save to deny them the lead.

Jones finally made the breakthrough, scoring from the spot after Reeve had been brought down and Fields had appeals for a second spot-kick waved away when Cuss seemed to be brought down.

There were further chances for Cuss, Mike Tambling and Marcus Palmer before Swifts drew level with a near-post effort on 75 minutes.

Palmer had another opportunity to win the game before Edwards saw red for a tackle when he was the last defender.

Pegasus Juniors suffered a sixth straight reverse when they hosted Shrewsbury-based Haughmond for a West Midlands League Premier Division, going down 3-1.

Juniors scored first after eighteen minutes when Ben Price converted a cross from Danny Hill.

But Haughmond scored twice in two minutes through George Taylor and Jack Williams to lead at the interval.

After the break, the home side had the upper hand but conceded a third on the hour after failing to take advantage from a corner kick.

The visitors countered with pace and Matt Evans was adjudged to have fouled Williams inside the penalty area. Carl Rogers converted the spot kick.

Wellington led 2-0 inside the first half-hour at Bilston but had to be content with a draw after the hosts staged a second-half revival.

Paul Jones had an early chance for Wellington who took the lead on 15 minutes when a long ball from Will Burley was trapped by Jones whose back-heel set up Josh Hunt to place the ball in the side of the net.

After 28 minutes, Andy Price passed to Aaron Morgan who blasted the ball home from close range.

The home side pulled one back before half-time and made changes at the interval, going on to put Wellington under a lot of pressure.

Ben Thomas made some last ditch tackles before a defensive error allowed the home team to level on the hour.

In the final 30 minutes, either side could have won it with Jones and Hunt going close and Jamie Yau making good runs down the right but keeper Chris Mancui held strong in goal to earn the county side a good away point.

Lads Club were beaten 5-2 at Stone Old Alleynians in Division One but Kington Town have gone fourth in Division Two after beating visiting Tipton Town 2-1.
