BARTESTREE Harriers are on the look-out for more female players.

The team currently has four teams from under 12 to under 18 level, as well as a ladies team.

But coach Donna Conway said the sides are stretched at the moment and are always recruiting for more players.

"We have got 10 players in each team, but Sophie Campbell has broken her wrist, so we can do with a few more players in our under-14 team," said Conway.

"Our theme is pink because we really want to stand out, especially as the club has progressed a lot."

The ladies team are currently fourth in Midwest Counties Female League, while the under-16 and under-18 teams play in the Gloucestershire County Girls League.

"They have to play in the Gloucestershire League because there is a lack of football for girls in Herefordshire," said Conway.

The under-12 team was first set up four years ago, but the club steadily grew to form four other teams.

"My daughter used to play in goal for the boys' team, but wanted to play girls football," said Conway.

Training sessions take place at Whitecross Academy every Thursday from 7pm to 8.30pm.
