FORMER Hereford United striker Nathaniel Lewars says he has no regrets about moving across the city to join Westfields.

Lewars has proven to be a big hit for Sean Edwards' men after linking up with the Midland Football League side in September.

He said he is due to remain at Westfields until Christmas, along with fellow former Hereford striker Deqwon Ebanks, who is also on the club's books.

"It enjoyed it at Hereford but I didn't feel great with the way my football was progressing," said Lewars, who scored a last-minute equaliser against Slough in the Bulls' first home game this season.

"There were quite a few strikers there and a lot of players were coming in.

"I needed to kick-start my career.

"I am happy with my decision."

Lewars, who works in solid wall insulation in Birmingham, added that there was no tension among the Hereford players despite their troubles off the field.

"I didn't have any problems and there was no real friction at the club, not from what I could see anyway," said Lewars.

"There were obviously problems that didn't involve us, but I didn't see any friction or players that were not happy.#

"We stayed at the Royal College for the Blind, which was ok.#

"It was small, but it meant the players got to bond a bit better.

"A lot of players have got apartments now.

"I am still in touch with a few of the players, like Sam Bobes-Gilroy and Bilal Yafai."

Lewars said he knew about Hereford when he joined in the summer and had no problems with manager Jon Taylor.

"I knew quite a bit about Hereford because the players were informed by people about what the club was going through," said Lewars.

"As a player you are committed to your contract and you stick it out.

"But a few of us eventually decided to leave.

"The manger was ok with me and we got on well, we knew where we stood with each other.

"When I decided to leave there was no tension and we left on good terms."

Lewars said he is delighted with how quickly he has settled in to the Westfields team.

"I am enjoying my football there and I have got a few goals," said Lewars.

"The team has good players and I enjoy playing with them.

"There is a lot of good banter and I love working with Sean Edwards.

"He is helpful and gives you a bit of confidence.

"Deqwon is also doing ok and is a quality player.

"We have got a good partnership going and want to develop it to help the team and make Westfields progress."
