Lads Club 3 Bartestree 0

LADS Club bounced back from their HFA County Challenge Cup exit at the hands of local rivals Bromyard Town with a convincing county derby win.

Bartestree had a couple of early chances with Steve Bell saving well from Tom Harding and Darren Andrews.

But Lads Club's possession football paid off when James Fennessy tapped home his first goal for the club after a Steve Dixon shot was blocked.

Bartestree keeper Jon Hopkins saved well from a Liam Jones header to keep the margin at just a single-goal at the interval but the home side increased their lead after the break when Jordan Burke seized on a pass from Kalum Wildig to shoot home.

Although they lost Scott Turner, who was sent off after an off-the-ball incident, Bartestree continued to look dangerous with Harding's running a strong threat.

But Lads Club maintained their control of the game with player-manager Danny Moon in good form in central midfield and sealed their win when Wildig finished off a good move down the left.

"Bartestree had a very strong attacking team out and we dealt with them very well," said Lads Club assistant manager Richie Jones. "But there is still room for a lot more improvement both in finishing and defensively.

On Wednesday, Lads Club made their exit from the HFA County Challenge Cup with a 3-1 defeat at Bromyard Town, despite a goal from Matt Maturi.
