Wellington 3 Dudley Town 0

WELLINGTON got their West Midlands League Premier Division season off to a fine start as two-goal Ben Fischer led them to an impressive home win.

Fischer opened the scoring on 22 minutes when he smashed the ball home after Paul Jones had beaten two players before dragging the ball back.

Matt Williams shot wide from a good position before Jones extended the lead, hitting a shot into the corner of the net after being put clear by Josh Hunt.

Dave Price headed narrowly wide from a Jamie Yau cross before Fischer seized on a fine through ball from Ben Thomas to pass the ball into the net five minutes before the interval.

Wellington had to defend well in the early stages of the second half with good work from Sam Archer-Plane and Will Burley keeping Town at bay.

But the home side finished strongly and Hunt was denied by a fine save before Thomas headed a Dave Price corner over the bar when a goal looked certain.
