A NEW era for Sinkums FC, under the guidance of manager Tony Chadwick, has begun in fine style with a league and cup double.

The city side had to relinquish their place in the Premier Division of the Herefordshire League at the end of last season but have bounced back by winning Herefordshire Division 3 as well as the FW Peterson Cup.

“I’d like to thank all the players for their hard work throughout the season and to my inspirational captain, Ben Morrison, for setting the high standard,” said Chadwick.

“My short term goal is to have Sinkums back challenging at the top of Herefordshire football within two years with a long-term goal of a first team supported by reserve and youth sides”.

Having lost just one league game all season, Sinkums enjoyed their final league game away at Shobdon, with all players switching positions, and a 4-1 win came courtesy of goals from manager Chadwick (2) and goalkeeper Jamie Bake topped off by a thunderous volley from skipper Morrison.

Late in April, Sinkums had beaten a strong Ross Juniors side 2-1 in the Peterson Cup final with strikes from top goal-scorer Damion Gallimore and veteran Wayne Milner.

“With experienced players such as Martin Adjei and Mitchell Lewis mixed with exciting young talent like Danny Williams and Nathan Scotford, continuing the club's philosophy of fast, attacking football, I believe the future is very bright and trophy laden for Sinkums,” said Chadwick.
