EWYAS Harold strengthened their grip on the Herefordshire League Premier Division title with a 2-0 home win over Lads Club Reserves.

Jamie Whilding and Rory Worthing netted for Harold, who are two points clear of second-placed Leominster Town and host Bartestree Reserves in a vital match next Tuesday.

Leominster Town saw their own title challenge stumble with a hard-fought 2-2 draw at Ross Juniors.

Town now have a tough run-in, including a match with title-favourites Harold, to keep any hopes alive.

Sam Pearson and Dan Sharp were on target for Town, who led 1-0 against Ross and fought back from 2-1 down but could not find a winner.

Previously, Pearson snapped up a hat-trick as Town overcame Weobley in a midweek match.

Westfields Reserves are third in the table after a surprise 3-2 home defeat in their last outing against Weobley, whose goals came from Cha Canning, Wes Evans and James Howard.

Westfields had previously beaten Fownhope 3-0 after strikes from Jamie Edwards, Mark Hibbard and Tim Stanley.

A brace from Matt Davies helped Fownhope to a 2-1 success over Weobley, whose goal was scored by Evans.

James Nowosielski’s double inspired Pegasus Reserves to a point in a 3-3 home draw with Wellington Reserves. Matt Smalley was also on target for Pegasus. Nowosielski had previously found the net as Pegasus won 2-1 at Bartestree Reserves.

Meanwhile, Tenbury United have one hand on the Division One title but were held to a 1-1 away against a vastly-improved Holme Lacy.

Phil Thomas scored a long-range goal for Lacy but United salvaged a point through marksman Ian Patterson. United boss Aaron Morris believes his side need just one win to seal the crown.

Braces from Sam Dixon and Josh Crisp-Hihn fired Ledbury Town Reserves to second in the table after a thumping 6-1 win over Ewyas Harold Reserves.

Tom Watkins and George Leyshon-James were also on target for Karl Lancett’s squad who were bolstered by several first team players, including Martin Loveridge and Tom Boyle.

Meanwhile, Ledbury Allstars lifted the HFA Sunday Cup after a 2-1 victory over Vaga in the final.
