TENBURY Town manager Darren Worthington will be gunning for revenge over rivals Orleton Colts in next Tuesday’s HFA Junior Cup final at Westfields, writes ADAM KNIGHT.

Town manager Darren Worthington has called on fans to get out and ‘support the troops’ for the biggest night in the club’s history.

It will be the first time the sides have met since Orleton edged a shoot-out in sudden death back in January’s Leintwardine Cup match.

For favourites Orleton - and departing manager Kristian Morgan - the final is a big chance for villagers to break their cup final

duck, having been the nearly men so often in recent years.

Morgan is hoping to go out with a win - as long as his side don’t ‘freeze’ once again on the big stage.

Town have no fear, insists Worthington, especially going against higher-ranked oppositions; having thrown the form book out of the window in turning over Herefordshire Division One side Woofferton in a dramatic semi-final win.

Town have also defeated higher-graded opponents Brimfield and Ewyas Harold Reserves in recent weeks, and will look to keep their giant-killing run going against their local rivals.

“Hopefully it will be our night to celebrate,” said Worthington.

“We are putting on a bus and we would like support ers of the Town to make the trip to Hereford to cheer our troops on. They need you to make their night special as it has been a long time coming.

“Back in January, we took Orleton all the way to penalties after a 2-2 draw but narrowly missed out in sudden-

death after converting all five penalties. My guys certainly deserve it after playing so well throughout this season.”

Worthington watched Orleton make light work of Fownhope Reserves in Saturday’s semi-final.

Orleton won 3-0 and Worthington scouted several players Town will need to “keep an eye on”. Alex King (2) and Shane Jennings scored for Orleton.

He said: “They have a few major threats although we will go about the match in our own style.”

For Orleton boss Morgan the final represents the chance to go out with a trophy, marking what has been a successful spell leading at the club.

But this year could be the best of the lot for Morgan - with Orleton still alive in three major cup competitions.

“That’s seven or eight in the last few years,” said Morgan. “I don’t know nerves, but our boys seem

to freeze in finals. Tenbury are the league below but they have some good players - Boucker is a handful.

“Hopefully I will go out with a win.”

The final kicks off at Westfields Football Club at 7.30pm with entrance costing £3.
