HEREFORD Lads Club paid the penalty for twice squandering their lead – in a 2-2 draw against Old Alleynians in West Midlands League Division One.

The visitors snatched a point from the penalty-spot with the last kick of Saturday’s match at the County Ground.

Goalkeeper Steve Bell kicked the bottom of visiting player’s foot in a scramble and Mike Meszaros equalised from the last-gasp spot-kick.

“A draw was probably the correct score but we were disappointed to concede in the last minute of both halves,” said Lads Club coach Richie Jones.

Lads Club are in action this Saturday, travel to basement boys Wolverhampton United.

Club opened through Jordan Burke in the 15th minute after a ball from Kalum Wildig.

Liam Jones shot wide of the mark and then Steve Dixon narrowly failed to make contact to a cross from youngster Lewis Fletcher.

Stone levelled on the stroke of half time through Billy Thornley’s fierce shot.

Stone had a chance to take the lead at the start of the second half but Jones blocked a fierce shot from striker Danny Heard.

The hosts regaimed the lead on the 65th minute when Danny Moon brought down

Josh Pugh’s cross and rifled home a half-volley.

Bell made a great one-handed save to stop Heard from equalising.

Both Dale Richards and Moon had a chance to further their lead only to see shots blocked brilliantly by Stone's defence.
