Lads Club 3 Shenstone Pathfinders 1

A POWERFUL header from Liam Jones set Lads Club on the path to a welcome win in Division One of the West Midlands League.

The city side got the second goal they fully deserved when a fine run and cross by Ben Fuller was finished off at the back post by Jordan Burke.

Sixteen-year-old Carlos Moriera caused all kinds of problems with his trickery before Dean Clarke's free-kick rolled just inside the front post to make it 3-1.

The third replacement, Keith Holmans laid the ball on to Burke whose cross was inches away from being finished off at the far post by Danny Moon.

Reserves striker Jones fired home the first on 13 minutes after good work by Mitchell Elliott and, nine minutes later, there was more good news for Town when Watkins fired home the rebound after a Tom Boyle shot was well saved.

Carl Turner pulled one back three minutes into the second period before, on 53 minutes, Welch hit the bar with a fine header but followed up finish off the rebound with the assistant referee ruling that the ball had crossed the line in a goalmouth melee.

Fine play from Gavin Walton on the wing worked the ball to Welch, who drilled the ball home for his second goal of the afternoon
