EWYAS Harold boss Rob Calderhead has his sights set on silverware after finishing runners-up in last season's Herefordshire League Premier Division title-race.

"We would be looking to go one better this season," he admitted.

"We had hoped to keep the same side from last season but it didn't work out that way with a few players leaving with their jobs.

"But we've got a few new faces in, Rory Worthing has now rejoined us from Monmouth and John Ferneyhough is back, too."

He acknowledged, however, that it may not be plain sailing for his side.

"The standard is higher than in it was last season," he said.

"Leominster have come in and they are a decent side while Ross, whom we play on Saturday, can be tricky.

"There is a long way to go this season but we have already won the league shield this season and we would like to go on and win another cup."

Shobdon's experienced Mark Ammonds acknowledged Ewyas Harold's quality.

"We've not yet played against Leominster but Ewyas Harold are the best side we've played," he said.

"It's a good division and I don't think there is one outstanding side.

"A lot of the games are quite close and there are not too many six or seven-goal thumpings.

"Above all, though, it's nice to be in a division where teams actually let you play - In Division One last season, there were a lot of teams who were simply intent on stopping you playing."
