Report: Ledbury Town 6 Hereford Lads Club 2 in West Midlands Football League Division One
Ledbury Town 6 Hereford Lads Club 2
LEDBURY Town marksman Jamie Welch fired in a hat-trick in this West Midlands League Division One county derby yesterday (Saturday).
Lads Club played some neat football, particularly in the first half, but they trailed 2-1 at the interval and were eventually hit for six.
Steve Dixon missed a late penalty for the Hereford side in the clash at New Street.
Both sides had early opportunities before Dan Herbert put Ledbury in front, heading in a cross. But Lads Club levelled through Jordan Burke.
Welch restored Ledbury's lead, heading home Tom Boyle's cross.
Welch scored Ledbury's third goal early the second half, heading in at the second attempt.
Ledbury made the points safe, Tom Boyle drilling in a long-range shot to put the hosts 4-1 up.
Lads Club reduced arrears after Lewis Skyers picked up a back-pass and Adam Newbury curled the resulting free-kick into the top corner.
Welch completed his treble after more fine work from Tom Boyle.
Lads Club were belatedly awarded a spot-kick after Skyers had been penalised by the assistant-referee for an offence at a corner.
However, Dixon added to Lads Club's agony, firing wide from the spot.
Dean Corbett set up the final goal of the afternoon for the hosts, with Herbert notching his second to complete the rout.
