Match report: Wellington Colts 3 Relentless 0 in HFA Burghill Cup semi-final

Relentless' dreams of a cup final were ended in a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Wellington Colts this afternoon writes TOM VALE.

Second-half goals from Rich Macdonald, Pete Wall and Chris Palmer, sent the Colts into the Herefordshire FA Burghill Cup final.

Herefordshire Third Division side Relentless, were the better side in the first-half and had two efforts from Mike Wilkins ruled out for offside.

Defender Roger Price also had a glorious opportunity from a corner but glanced his close-range header wide with the goal gaping.

But the home side came out battling in the second-half with a lot of the action end-to-end.

And Relentless had another chance with captain James Anderson's header superbly tipped over by Colts' 'keeper Nick Britton.

However, 10 minutes later, a thumping finish from the lively Macdonald gave Wellington the lead.

Wall then skipped round a defender and the 'keeper to make it two, before a moment of madness saw Scott Jones sent off for the visitors.

After a crunching foul on one of his fellow players, the defender booted the ball at an opponent which the referree deemed worthy of a red card.

Palmer finished the game off in the 87th minute neatly slotting the ball past Lee Leirgo, to send his team into the final.
