REBECCA Davies reflects on Ladies Day and looks forward to the last meeting of the season.

LAST week saw our first weekend fixture since reopening, when a valuable card of over £80,000 drew in the crowds.

A total of 2,700 racegoers flocked to the track to enjoy Ladies Day where style won the day.

More than 40 ladies entered the best dressed ladies competition where the judges had a tough task.

Fashionista Eimear Chance and Hereford College of Arts lecturer Claire Anderson both commented how high the standard of outfits were when judging.

After much deliberation, a stunning cream outfit won the day.

Thanks to Cotswold MINI Hereford and The Verzon House the winner will enjoy a convertible MINI for a weekend and a dinner, bed and breakfast stay at The Verzon followed by a tour of the world famous Chase Distillery.

Whilst the ladies enjoyed their day, many also took the opportunity to combine racing with rugby and were treated before racing to a question and answer session with champion jockey Richard Johnson and rugby star Nick Robinson.

Our final fixture this season is Family Fun Day on Sunday, March 26, which is Mother's Day.

There is limited availability in our Rusty Bridge Restaurant which has proven very popular with those wanting to treat mum on Mothering Sunday.

Throughout the day we have free children's entertainment including, fairground rides, circus workshops and face painting.

Local Herefordshire racing personalities Richard Johnson and Tom Symonds will also be involved with the mascot race which will see five local mascots go head to head in a fun run across the lawn.

The fixture will also see The Verzon presenting awards to the leading trainer and rider, which is currently headed by Nigel Twiston-Davies and Richard Johnson respectively.

Family Fun Day is the last chance to enjoy racing at Hereford until the autumn, so come and join us before the summer's break on what has been a super first season back racing.
