ANOTHER race meeting has been called off at Hereford.

The first meeting of the new season was set to take place next Tuesday.

But staff have decided to transfer it to Worcester because of 'unseasonably dry weather conditions and lack of recent rainfall'.

It is the second time that has happened after last month's meeting was transferred for the same reason.

"It is with regret that the unseasonably dry weather conditions and lack of recent rainfall at Hereford Racecourse, the 'Local Raceday' on Tuesday, November 14 has been transferred to Worcester Racecouse," reads a statement.

"This decision was taken in consultation with the BHA inspectorate, trainers that had made entries for the fixture and ont he basis of the current going (good to firm, firm in places) with no possibility of watering between now and racing.

"We apologise for the inconvenience caused in transferring the fixture, however providing safe jumping ground and ensuring equine welfare is of paramount importancve to us."

The racecourse only have access to a limited water supply, which is provided by Cargill.

However, they are at an advanced stage in constructing a reservoir that will ensure full watering capabilities from next spring.

Anyone who has purchased tickets or packages for next Tuesday's meeting can use them at Worcester, any other fixture at Hereford, or claim a full refund.

The next date set for Hereford is the Soldiers' Charity Raceday on Wednesday, November 29.
