Hereford's St Paul's School are regional Kwik Cricket champions

ST PAUL’S are the top Year 5/6 Girls Kwik Cricket team in the West Midlands after success in the regional finals which were held at Lichfield CC.

The city school represented Herefordshire as county finalists against schools from Staffordshire, Shropshire, Worcestershire and Warwickshire.

The girls won their first three games 267-0 v 217-6, 297-0 v 238-3 and 290-4 v 230- 5 and then achieved a threerun win in their final game against opponents who also had a 100 per cent record to take top spot.

The girls were presented with their cup by the former Warwickshire and England paceman Gladstone Small.

The national finals at Grace Road, Leicester were washed out by heavy rain and had to be moved indoors with St Paul’s eventually being eliminated at the semi-final stage.
