Brockhampton hold on for draw at West Bromwich Dartmouth

BROCKHAMPTON suffered something of a pounding in the Birmingham League Premier Division before leaving West Bromwich Dartmouth with a draw.

Although visiting skipper Owen Price won the toss and decided to bowl, matters failed to go according to plan as James Campbell (70) and former Worcestershire and Gloucestershire batsman Kadeer Ali (127 not out) built an opening stand of 127.

There was little respite when the pair were parted with Navdeep Poonia contributing 74 from 75 balls as the total marched on towards 301-5.

Charlie Griffiths emerged with the creditable figures of 1-50 from 17 overs but his colleagues suffered in the onslaught, especially the usually miserly Chris Boroughs who conceded 109 runs from 11 overs.

A total of 22 sixes were shared among the Dartmouth batsman and there were more to coming from the Brockhampton line-up with Dave Exall contributing five, and one four, in his 51.

Adam Hewlett top-scored with 56 and, with Henry Langford (31) and Ben Stebbings (20) also making useful runs, Brockhampton held on at 201-8.

Eastnor ’s prospects of landing the Division Two title slipped after a 30-run defeat at Stratford.

The villagers’ bowlers did their job well, especially Shahid Ahmed (4-45), as the hosts were dismissed for just 137.

But Eastnor’s batting failed to impress as they were shot out for just 107.

Skipper Clive Chadhani did his best to rally his troops, top-scoring with 21 while Mohammed Adeel (19), Shahid (17no) and Jabran Khalid (12) also reached double figures.
