AFTER a shaky start, Colwall quickly recovered to record an easy eightwicket win over their local rivals Malvern at Stowe Lane and book their place in Division 1 of the Worcestershire County League next season.

After taking 80 runs off the first 10 overs, Malvern slumped to 151 all out in 36 with off-spinner Mike King taking 7-30 off 13 overs, including a hattrick.

Colwall lost both openers for a combined total of one run. Rory Jones (69no) and Ben Wheeler (67no) wasted little time, and they secured the win, and divisional runnes-up spot, in the 17th over.

Burghill & Tillington finished in fourth spot after they cruised to a 10- wicket win over Netherton at Brick House Farm.

John Terry (4-53), Mark Preece (3- 27) and Will Treloar (2-29) bowled the visitors out off the final ball. Jack Hale and Ed Oliver both finished on 82 when they reached the winning post in the 25th over.

Wormelow’s in-form batsmen ended their campaign with a successful run-chase at bottom-club Kidderminster.

Paul Mitchell (129no) batted throughout the Kidderminster innings of 261-5, but a century from Ben Owens plus half-centuries for Tim Boulter and Ed Coombes saw the visitors home in the 35th over.

Monmouth’s final game at champions Coombs Wood was abandoned with Monmouth in some trouble.

They were 70-5 off 12 overs chasing the Halesowen side’s 252-9 after Jordan Charles and Jon Roberts had reduced them to 95-5 at one stage.

Fraser Kilgour took a catch, his 18th, to equal the divisional record.

Bromyard ended their season with a losing draw in a rain-affected game against Division 1 champions Stourbridge at Flaggoners Green.

Ashley Bullock (61) and Edd Oliver (86) posted an opening partnership of 142 to help Bromyard to a total of 220- 6. A shock result was looking likely when Greg Leighton (3-32) and Tom Baylis reduced the champions to 38-4.

They recovered to get ahead of the rate on 122-5 in the 31 overs possible.
