ANGUS was the shining light for Luctonians as they kept up their Division 1 title challenge in the GB Liners Marches League with a comprehensive victory over Builth Wells.
Having set their Welsh opponents 264 Angus Light (5-53) ripped through the middle and lower order to keep Luctonians on course for promotion with a 75-run win.
Light also weighed in with the bat when his late cameo of 23 featured two sixes and a four.
Other strong contributions came from Max Cheek (55 not out) and James Platford (47) who helped build an decent total.
Their nearest challengers, Garnons, kept up the pressure with a 108- run win over Bosbury.
The home side posted 295-5 before dismissing their opponents for just 187.
Elsewhere in the division, Kington won a nailbiter against Shobdon thanks largely to threewicket hauls from Wayne Morgan (3-18) and Joe Penrose (3-24).
The pair helped bowl their opponents out for just 140 with Ben George (2-38) also chipping in.
But Ian Probert’s superb spell of 5-58 looked set to thwart Kington before an unbeaten 31 from lower order batsman Bryan Kirkham saw them home.
There was another tight game at Glangrwyney whose modest total of 135 all out against Goodrich was boosted by Nick Jones (55).
James O’Brien was the star of the Goodrich attack with 5-33 as he accounted for the opposition’s top five batsmen.
Goodrich rounded off a three-wicket win thanks to Andrew Brown’s 44 and Roger Lord (25).
Elsewhere a half-century from Steven Fortey was not enough to see Bartestree & Lugwardine record a victory.
Fortey’s knock of 61 was the only highlight against Crickhowell as they were dismissed for 154.
The opponents knocked off the required runs within 30 overs.
Meanwhile, in Division Two a superb knock of 177 by Sam Morris helped Dales to a winning draw at Goodrich 2nd.
Morris’s knock included 21 fours and nine sixes and boosted Dales’ total to 344-7 off 45 overs.
Goodrich were limited to 220-8 in reply with Chris Chadd (3-39) and Owen Davies (3-43).
