Pictures by STEVE NIBLETT www.herefordunited.co.uk SEVERAL former Hereford United favourites headed for Eastnor on Sunday to show off their cricketing skills in aid of the Adam Stansfield Fund.
The former Bulls were split between the two sides - called an ‘Invitation Xl’ and ‘Hereford United’ – which resulted in Bulls boss Jamie Pitman opening his side’s attack against Invitation Xl openers Dudley Tyler and Kevin Rose.
The Invitation side piled on the runs on a true batting pitch with Josh Emery (29), skipper Steve Large (26), Steve Onions (25), Tyler (24), BBC Hereford and Worcester commentator Keith Hall (24), Rose (22), John Layton (22), Steve Hughes (19 not out) and Chris Moore (16) all making useful scores against an attack which also included the United chairman David Keyte.
The United team did not fare so well in reply as Layton (3-12) and Tyler (2-12) got to work with the ball.
Only Pitman (15), Hereford Times sports editor Richard Prime (13 not out) and Sam Peplow (11) reached double-figures as the United side were dismissed for 82.
An enthusiastic crowd enjoyed the action on a pleasantly sunny afternoon, however, and a draw helped to boost the contribution made to the Stansfield fund to £235.
