Colwall face Herefordshire rivals Burghill & Tillington at Stowe Lane this Saturday in a Worcestershire County League promotion battle.
Damien Berry’s Colwall are just three points off second spot in Division 2 after an impressive four-wicket at high-flying Coombs Wood..
Former skipper Mike King (5- 35) and seamer Alex Frick (4-43) helped to shoot out the Halesowen outfit for just 173 in the 47th over.
Only Matthew Colwell (56) offered resistance for Wood, who had started the day in top spot.
James Abel (29), King (26) and Odge Davey (23) made contributions before Ben Wheeler (32 not out) and Tim Riley (23 not out) saw third-placed Colwall home in 30 overs.
In-form Burghill & Tillington have moved up to fourth after picking up a winning draw after a powerful display in a rain-hit match against struggling Malvern.
Burghill piled up 315-5 and then finished just one wicket shy of an outright victory after Malvern closed on 108-9 from 30 overs.
All-rounder Byron Newton was in superb form for Burghill, hitting 76 and then snapping up 6-64 at Brick House Farm.
Alex Hedges (70), John Terry (51 not out) and Jack Hale (40) also shone with the bat for Tim Walsh’s men.
Monmouth suffered a losing draw in a rain-affected match with Worcester Dominies at the Sports Ground.
After a two-hour delay for rain, Stephen Miles (64) and John Hancock (64) lifted Dominies to 221-6 before declaring after 29 overs.
David Teague snapped up 5-72.
Monmouth’s Kiwi batsman Fraser Kilgour hammered 74 from just 51 balls as the Welshmen were restricted to 140- 8 in 29 overs.
Wormelow, who are also in Division 2, posted 161-8 against visiting Netherton before their match was washed out by rain.
Ben Owens had made 79 for Wormelow.
Bromyard’s disappointing run in Division 1 continued with a comprehensive six-wicket defeat to Oldswinford at Flaggoners Green.
Greg Leighton (63) and Matt Bullock (38 not out) battled hard for the Herefordshire side who were restricted to 202-9 against a good visiting attack.
Tony Brewer (49) got Oldswinford’s response off to a decent start and, despite Dinusha Fernando’s 2-54, Asa Robinson (54) steered the visitors home in 35 overs.
Canon Frome are finding life tough in Division 4 and they crashed to an 85-run away defeat to Himley.
Matt Morgan (4-49) and Kit Smith (3-56) bowled impressively for Frome to peg Himley back to 192-7.
However, lowly Frome struggled with the bat and, with only four players reaching double figures, they were skittled for 107 in 32 overs.
Ross-on-Wye's Division 5 clash with visiting Cleobury Mortimer was washed out at The Parks without a ball bowled.
