AFTER the previous weekend’s blip against Goodrich, Garnons returned to winning ways when they travelled to Glangrwyney.
The leaders returned home with a comfortable seven-wicket win to consolidate their place at the head of Division 1 in the GB Liners Marches League.
Tim Jones held the Glangrwyney innings together after the Welshmen had made a poor start against Andy Brace (3-45). He reached his century off 117 balls and helped lift his side’s total to a respectable 216-8.
Jonny Andrews (68) led the Garnons run chase, with Bruce Blyth (31), Alan Jones (37), James Debenham (38no) and Joss Hancock (26no) playing their part.
It was a similar story at Mortimer Park where Luctonians maintained their challenge when they cruised home by seven wickets after restricting Bosbury to 225-8.
Simon Probyn (57) and Dave Taylor (30) laid the base for a big total, but the fact they topped 200 was down to an unbeaten 84 from Luke Ledbury.
Duncan Platford (114 with 17 fours and one six) carried his bat for the home side. Tom Genders came in after Probyn had reduced Luctonians to 54-3, and stroked 61 runs to go with his four wickets.
Builth Wells lost ground when they went down by three wickets at Bartestree and Lugwardine.
Eric De Greeve (66) was the only major contribution in a total of 171 against an inspired spell of bowling from Joe Wright (6- 38).
Harry Savage (3-39) caused a wobble in mid-innings, and Jamie McIlroy (2-26) a late scare, but regular contributions down the order saw Bartestree get home with something to spare.
After a bright start to the season, Kington are sliding down the table after another heavy defeat at Crickhowell. They were bowled out for 129 and the Welshmen got home by seven wickets.
David Morgan topscored on 21 as they were ripped apart by Mark Coles (5-26) after Nick Francis (2-25) had inflicted early damage.
Lawrence Watts (35) and Matthew Sneade (43) made light work of the run-chase.
Goodrich kept the pressure on the top two by beating struggling Shobdon by three wickets on their own patch.
They bowled Shobdon out for 217 and got home with three wickets and five overs in hand.
