BROCKHAMPTON had to settle for a losing draw in a raininterupted game at Attock which they may well have won had it gone the full distance.

The Herefordshire side posted a total of 213-8 in their 55 overs and had Attock, the bottom side in Division 1 of the Birmingham Premier League, on 181-8 off 43 overs, but crucially 18 runs ahead of the winning draw target.

Consistent performances from the top five batsmen laid the foundation for a decent total when Brockhampton batted.

After Ashley Nahorniak (22), Adam Hewlett (39) and Henry Langford (26) were dismissed, Tom Austwick (53no) lost a couple of partners quickly before Nabeel Malik (23) and skipper Owen Price (13) helped him get the score over 200.

Opener Mohammed Qamer scored a run-a-ball 30 before falling to Richard Parker, and with Chris Boroughs (2-42) and Price taking three wickets, Attock were struggling.

Sultan Mamood (41 off 33 balls) received solid support from Waqar Saleem (44) and got the home side above the required rate, but then three wickets for Malik (3-38) and a second from Price (2-59) tilted the match back in favour of Brockhampton.

For the second week running, Eastnor took on the side at the top of Division 2 and beat them. They bowled Whitchurch out for 127 and went on to win by eight wickets.

Whereas their victory at Harborne the previous weekend was a tense nail-biting last-ball affair, the eight-wicket win against Whitchurch at Clenchers Mill Lane was far more comfortable, the result of a polished all-round performance.

Shahid set the tone for the performance by catching Whitchurch’s dangerous skipper Mas Hasnain with a low diving catch at gully. Josh Emery followed up by taking a sharp chance at slip off Shahid (2-54).

The real damage, however, was done when Jabran introduced spin.

He took 4-25 off 11 overs and was backed up by Atiq (3-19 off 14 overs).

With rain threatening, Jabran took the attack to the Whitchurch seamers, cracking 25 out of 32-1 before rain intervened after six overs.

He was out soon after but his brother Faisal joined forces with Atiq to see Eastnor home.

Faisal and Atiq both completed half centuries.
