A FIELDER most famous for running out Ricky Ponting in a vital Ashes Test will be aiming to scupper Herefordshire’s Lord’s bid this weekend.
Herefordshire face Gary Pratt’s Cumberland at Brockhampton on Sunday (11am start) in the quarter-finals of the Minor Counties Cricket Association Trophy.
Chris Boroughs’ Herefordshire are just two wins from reaching Lord’s.
Cumberland are skippered by ex-Durham player Pratt, the substitute fielder who ran out then Australian captain Ponting at Trent Bridge in the thrilling 2005 Ashes series.
The dismissal prompted an angry outburst from Ponting who shouted up at the England balcony and it was one of the defining images and pivotal moments of the series.
“We will be making sure that we won’t be taking any quick singles to him,” said Boroughs.
