TWO Herefordshire cricket clubs will be fielding new overseas players this summer, writes IAN MORGAN.
Colwall have signed Australian quick bowler Kyron Burgess for the 2010 campaign.
Burgess is also a useful batsman and has represented South Australia’s Under-19 team.
Colwall club president Adrian Berry said Burgess would be sharing the new ball with vice-skipper Damien Berry.
“Kyron is the first overseas player at Colwall for a few years and we are hoping his ability and experience will help develop our excellent crop of young players,” said the experienced Berry.
Bromyard, who also play in Division 1 of the Crusader Worcestershire County League, have captured 27-year-old South African all-rounder Lundi Mbane.
Mbane plays for Border in the South African domestic competition. He has made more than 1,000 first-class runs at an average of just over 21 and taken 73 wickets at an average of 33.
A quick-scoring batsman and fast-medium bowler, Mbane will be Bromyard's vice-captain.
Mbane will also assist with coaching the junior sides of the north Herefordshire outfit.
