A FANTASTIC century from Richard Stafford helped Wormelow claim a narrow two-wicket win over Old Vigornians in Worcestershire County League Division Two.

The win means that the villagers are pretty much safe in the division following an earlier blip in the campaign.

Luke Jones was also useful with the bat, scoring 65 as Wormelow got within their target with one over to spare.

Old Vigornians posted 235-4 off their 50 overs, with Steve Campbell-Ferguson just five runs short of a century.

Elsewhere, Bromyard managed to come away with three points despite being smashed around the park by Evesham.

The Worcestershire side declared on 337-4 off 49 overs, while Bromyard could only get to 188-7.

Meanwhile in Division One, Eastnor claimed a winning draw at Hagley that has taken them within 11 points of safety.

Three wickets from captain Tareq Jamil restricted Hagley to 200-8 off 48 overs.

The weather meant that Eastnor's allocated overs were reduced to 41 and they made 174-7; Aarsh Jha top scoring with 34.

Colwall are still nervously looking over their shoulder after a poor batting display saw them lose by six wickets to Cookley.

The Herefordshire side were bowled out for just 97 with only three players getting into double figures.

Despite a fine unbeaten knock of 92 from Barney Morgan, Burghill, Tillington Weobley were bowled out for 168.

Jack Myers also took five wickets for the villagers, but Droitwich got to their target thanks largely to a century from Ash Fearnall.

Bartestree & Lugwardine also lost in Division Three, going down by 216 runs to Himbleton.

The home side made a massive 364-5 off their 50 overs, which Bartestree had no answer to.
