TWO defeats in their opening three games has resulted in Ross-on-Wye slipping into the Division Two relegation zone of the GB Liners Marches League.

The south Herefordshire decided to start this season in the Marches set-up after withdrawing from the Worcestershire County League.

They won their second game against Almeley, but slipped to a 42-run defeat to Eastnor 3rds last Saturday.

A fine 72 from Fred Coleman and a 53 from Richard Williams helped secure Eastnor the win as the villagers posted 220-7 off their 45 overs.

Former Hereford United player Steve Emery, David Higson, Coleman and Sam Beale then snapped up wickets when Ross were put into bat.

Canon Frome lead the table after three matches, with Luctonians 2nds in the other promotion spot.

Last Saturday, Canon Frome claimed a winning draw against Almeley, while Lucs thumped Colwall 3rds by nine wickets.

Elsewhere, Ledbury beat Presteigne by eight wickets and Knighton-on-Teme overcame Cleobury Mortimer by 18 runs.

Goodrich lead the Division One table after demolishing Woolhope by 10 wickets.

Woolhope were skittled out for just 39, with Mark Bradford taking a fine 7-16.

Goodrich then only needed just over five overs to clinch the match.

Kington are now second following a handsome 102-run win over Abergavenny-Crickhowell, while Garnons fell to a four-wicket defeat to Glangrwyney.

Reigning champions Luctonians claimed their first win of the season at the third time of asking after a five-wicket haul from Imalka Kankanamalage saw them beat Builth Wells by seven wickets.

Elsewhere, Brockhampton 3rds had a much-needed 30-run win against Dales.

The Division Three table is led by Strollers, who saw off Talybont-on-Usk, while the Division Four pacesetters are Bosbury, who beat Hay-on-Wye by eight wickets.
