WORMELOW were left frustrated after failing to take the final wicket in their Worcestershire County League Division Two opener against Harborne.

The hosts were in superior batting form hitting 284-6 off their 50 overs thanks to an unbeaten century for Elliott Williams, but his side couldn't bowl Harborne out as they held on by their fingernails finishing on 173-9.

Openers Matt Deem (43) and Robbie Stonadge (44) built up a partnership of 104 for Wormelow before Williams came in at five and his unbeaten 106 from 83 balls helped his side to a respectable 284.

Early bowling from Elliott Williams (3-23) and Edward Melly (4-24) saw Harborne have their backs against the wall and when they fell to 146-8 the writing was on the wall.

However, closing batsman Michael Keogh faced 13 balls as his side held onto a losing draw.

Also in Division Two, Bromyard saw their target of 194-9 off 50 overs reached by Oldswinford & Stourbridge Social CC with three balls remaining.

Captain Edd Oliver opened with a slow scoring 45 for Bromyard before highest scoring Kieran Fowler hit 53.

The visitors also got off to a perfect start with the ball taking Dominic Friel's wicket off two balls. Despite figures of (4-58) from Fowler and (3-34) for David Taylor their side were just beaten.

Eastnor were beaten by three wickets in their opening Division One fixture at Redditch CC, who bowled them out for 188 off 40 overs.

Joseph Madyembwa was top scorer for the visitors hitting 46 not-out.

Despite putting up a fight with the ball which saw Tareq Jamil take three wickets the hosts hit the target with four overs and three wickets remaining.

Burghill, Tillington and Weobley CC suffered a similar fate at the hands of Bewdley CC hitting 136 all-out in reply to a target of 232.

Bewdley's Rob Combes scored 111 but thanks to the bowling of Owen Morgan (5-21) the hosts were restricted to 232 all-out.

Burghill's skipper Ben Owens hit 61 in reply but his team were also bowled out after 39 overs.

Similarly Colwall CC were also beaten after being bowled out for 178, just 11 runs short of their target.

Ben Wheeler caught four catches while Daniel Newby took four wickets as they bowled Stourport out for 189.

In response Ben Cooke scored 46 and Nick Panniers an unbeaten 45, but they fell just short of their target bowled out off 48.4 overs.

Finally in Division Three Bartestree & Lugwardine CC were also beaten at the hands of Netherton CC.

Bartestree were bowled out for 151 and the hosts easily hit the target finishing on 152- 6 off 40.2 overs.
