A FORMER Bromyard captain and stalwart has died.
Derek Griffiths, always known as Sam, was born in 1949. He played regularly for the Flaggoners Green club from 1969 to 1998 and captained both the club's first and second teams during his long career.
Principally a lively and accurate seam bowler, as well as being a capable batsman, Sam was a regular in the Hereford Evening League during the 1970s and 1980s for Herefordians and then Nomads and also played for the league's representative side against Worcester.
His funeral will be held at Suckley Church on Saturday at 12 noon.
