COLWALL bounced back from a recent slump to beat Pedmore by a resounding 104 runs in Division One of the Worcestershire County Cricket League.

James Abel was the star man with the bat, top scoring with 79 as Colwall posted 276-9 off their 50 overs.

South African Wehan Joubert then snapped up three wickets as Pedmore were bowled out for 172.

Worcester Nomads are still overwhelming favourites to win the division, but Colwall are holding on to second place and lie 17 points head of Stourport-on-Severn.

Mid-table Burghill, Tillington & Weobley meanwhile gained a fine seven-wicket win over Cookley.

James Burston was the pick of their bowlers, taking 6-21 while Barney Morgan scored 27.

Bromyard have given themselves a real chance of staying in Division Two, with their latest win coming against Lye.

The county side looked odds-on favourites to join Alvechurch & Hopwood as the two sides that will drop out of the league, but back-to-back wins now sees them seven points above the drop zone.

David Taylor took 3-10 and Ed Smith scored 78 in the six-wicket victory.

Enville currently occupy the last relegation spot, but they claimed an excellent 108-run win over Wormelow last Saturday.

Jonathan Howells hit 101 runs off 124 balls for the Staffordshire side, with only Luke Jones (51) and Robbie Stonadge (41) scoring any notable runs for Wormelow.

Bartestree & Lugwardine are now 29 points adrift of the promotion places in Division Three after falling to a eight-wicket defeat against Kempsey.

The villagers would have been pleased with their score of 278-4 off 50 overs, with fine knocks from Ben Chaplin (94), David Robinson (65 not out) and Andy Jones (41 not out).

But Kempsey, who are now above Bartestree in the league table, reached their target with ease; Zakary O'Neill scoring 95 and Tristan Robinson finishing unbeaten on 83.

It was another tough day for Ross-on-Wye though after they slumped to a 200-run defeat against Old Vigornians.

The Worcester-based side scored 350-6 in their innings thanks mainly to a century from Andrew Bell.

Ross never looked like reaching their target and finished on 150-8; James Tiffen top scoring with 51.
