BROMYARD captain Edd Oliver is confident his side can stay in Worcestershire County League Division Two despite sustaining a heavy eight-wicket defeat against rivals Wormelow.

The Flaggoners Green side are second-from-bottom in the division having only won three games all season.

But with only 26 points separating them and seventh-placed Lye, Oliver sees no reason why they can't start climbing the table.

"We're disappointed with how the season has gone, but we've lost two or three experienced players," said Oliver.

"We've only got three players who are in their 30s – the rest are all under 23.

"Alvechurch are cut adrift at the bottom, but there are five teams within 25 to 30 points of each other, so it could easily change.

"In the next four weeks, we've got teams who are in the bottom half of the table, so we will do our best to win some of them and do our upmost to stay up."

Luke Sparrow and Steven Wild snapped up seven of Bromyard's wickets as the hosts were skittled out for just 89.

Lachlan Hartley then made 25 in replay for Wormelow, while Matt Deem finished unbeaten on 24.

Colwall are now 19 points adrift of Worcester Nomads at the top of Division One after going down to a seven-wicket loss to Droitwich Spa.

Max Young (77) and Ash Fearnall (45) helped the Worcestershire side to victory, while Fergus Cameron made a half century for Colwall.

In the same division, Burghill, Tillington & Weobley are sixth following a five-wicket win over Bewdley.

Barney Morgan was Burghill's man-of-the-match, taking 4-25 and scoring an unbeaten 44 with the bat.

Bartestree & Lugwardine occupy the second promotion spot in Division Three thanks to a handsome seven-wicket win against Barnards Green.

Australian Ben Chaplin was once again in the mood, scoring 106, while Tom Strangward took three wickets.

Ross-on-Wye beat Malvern by 46 runs thanks largely to Graham Howls' fantastic 117 off just 98 balls.
