HEREFORDSHIRE lost by seven wickets to Dorset in their latest Unicorns Minor Counties Championship match.

A mid-order collapse in their second innings was ultimately Herefordshire's undoing as Dorset reached their target with second wickets in hand.

Herefordshire were bowled out for 259 in their first innings thanks to find knocks of 64 by skipper Matt Pardoe and Ed Pollock.

When Dorset were 171-6 for reply, it looked like Herefordshire's total would have been competitive.

But Samuel Thomson and Chris Park put on a fine 126-run stand to take Dorset into the lead and they eventually made 307-7 off 90 overs.

Liam Gwynne went for a duck when Herefordshire batted next , but Pardoe and Pollock batted well to add useful runs.

Pardoe went for 36, while Pollock would go on to make 67.

But after Peter Burgoyne went to leave Herefordshire on 178-6, the wickets kept tumbling and the county side would only add 10 more runs before being bowled out.

Opener Masoor Khan then hit a fine 62 to help Dorset reach their total for the loss of only three wickets and off 35.2 overs.

This Sunday, Herefordshire go to Devon in the semi-finals of the Knock-out Trophy.
