THE wet weather put paid to a lot of games in the Worcestershire County League last weekend – with many ending up being abandoned.

In Division One, only 27.1 overs were possible in Burghill, Tillington & Weobley's match against Oldswinford & Stourbridge Social, while Colwall's encounter against Worcester was called off after the Herefordshire side finished their innings.

James Abel top scored for Colwall with 45 in their total of 173, with Nick Panniers (30) and Tome Coleman (29) also making useful contributions.

Bromyard gained their first win in Division Two thanks to a five-wicket success over Evesham at Flaggoners Green.

Greg Leighton took five wickets and Josh van Rensburg three as Bromyard bowled out the visitors for just 90.

Bromyard then only needed 12.3 overs to reach their target.

Pete Whittenbury scored 39 off 34 balls, while van Rensburg got to 31 off 25.

Wormelow's match against Lye was abandoned after the Worcestershire side were bowled out for 219.

James Snow was the pick of Wormelow's bowlers, helping himself to six wickets.

Bartestree & Lugwardine were no doubt cursing the weather after rattling off 311 runs in their Division Three match against Cleobury Mortimer.

Ben Chaplin continued his fine start to the campaign by making 84 runs off just 58 balls, while Andrew Jones (81 off 48) also made a fine knock.

But the wet weather meant the match could not continue.

Ross-on-Wye's game against Netherton was also abandoned.

This Saturday, Burghill, Tillington & Weobley and Colwall have home matches against Cookley and Pedmore respectively, while Wormelow and Bromyard are both on the road.

Wormelow go to Enville, while Bromyard make the trip to Lye.

Bartestree & Lugwardine will be looking to continue their good start in Division Three when they entertain Kempsey, while Ross-on-Wye are home to Old Vigornians.
