WORMELOW 2nd dramatically claimed promotion to Division Two of the Worcestershire County Cricket League after securing a winning draw against Himley.

The villagers started the day six points adrift of Kidderminster Victoria in the race to finish second and had to better their result.

But with Kidderminster falling to a surprise defeat at relegated Claverley, Wormelow's winning draw was enough to see them home.

Matt Deem led the way with the bat with a fine 73, with Dave Bannerman (53) and Oliver Rogoff (37) also contributing nicely.

Wormelow eventually made 222-6 off their 50 overs, but it was enough to get the winning draw.

Himley could only get to 155-6, with James Powell helping himself to four wickets for the loss of just 12 runs.

In the same division, Andy Kalwaites and Tom Haynes share nine wickets between them to help Bartestree & Lugwardine 2nd thrash Malvern 2nd by nine wickets.

Ross-on-Wye 2nd bow out of Division Four though, with their latest defeat coming at the hands of Five Ways Old Edwardians.

However, it was better news for Ross' first team, with Harry King's five-for helping them to a four-wicket win against Claverley.

In Division One, Burghill & Tillington firsts claimed a winning draw against Pedmore thanks to an excellent 118 from Owen Morgan, but Colwall and Bromyard both lost.

Colwall went down to an eight-wicket defeat against third-placed Droitwich Spa, while Bromyard, who finish bottom of the league, lost by seven wickets to Hagley.

Wormelow's match against Harborne in Division Two was cancelled and Bartestree & Lugwardine were thrashed by 122 runs by Netherton in Division Three.
