TWO of the county's leading cricket teams face a fight for survival this Saturday.

Brockhampton and Eastnor both face relegation do-or-die games in their respective Birmingham & District Premier Cricket League divisions.

Brockhampton are four points from safety in the Premier Division having lost against fellow strugglers Wolverhampton last Saturday, while Eastnor are six points behind third-from-bottom Stourbridge in Division Two.

This Saturday, Brockhampton host fifth-placed West Bromwich Dartmouth, while Wolverhampton, who are now above Brockhampton in the race to stay up, go to Barnt Green, who are fourth from bottom.

Bottom club Dorridge can also still stay up and they host mid-table Ombersley.

Eastnor, meanwhile, travel to Coventry & North Warwickshire, who are sixth.

But the villagers will also be casting one eye on the bottom-of-the-table clash between Brewood and Stourbridge.

Brewood are bottom of Division Two, but will stay up if they win and Eastnor lose.

For Eastnor to stay up, they have to win their game and hope Brewood do them a favour.

But the Herefordshire side go into the game in form having won their last three games.

Their latest success saw them hammer Shifnal by seven wickets having bowled out the away side for just 115.

Raheel Lone was the pick of the Eastnor bowlers in helping himself to three wickets, while Shahid Ahmed, Sajid Ali, Atiq Ur Rehman and Jabran Khalid all chipped in with two wickets each. Joseph Madeymbwa did go cheaply when Eastnor were put into bat to leave the home side on 2-1 and their hopes of winning the game did become precarious when Shameer Ahmed went soon after.

That left Eastnor on 9-2, but Suleyman Shah and Ur Rehman steadied the ship before Rehman went for 24.

Nevertheless, Kamran Mehran made an unbeaten 39 to secure a seven wicket win.

Despite a fine 68 from Danny Irvine and 41 from Callum Stewart, Brockhampton fell just short in their match Wolverhampton, which could end up costing them their league place.

Wolverhampton made an excellent 241-3 off their 50 overs, with South African Matthew Kleinveldt finishing unbeaten on 111.

Irvine did his best to try and help Brockhampton reach their target, but too many players around him failed to score enough runs and eventually the away side were dismissed for 229.

"It was the story of our season," said Brockhampton captain Chris Boroughs.

"There have been a number of games where we have been 15 to 20 runs short.

"If we had converted those losses into wins then we wouldn't be going into the last game of the season needing to win.

"There is a scenario that we could go above Wolverhampton even if we lose the game but out of the three of us [Brockhampton, Dorridge and Wolverhampton] at least one of us will win.

"So our mind set is to win our game and hopefully that will be enough.

"Barnt Green have fallen away a little bit but they won last weekend, so hopefully they can do us a favour."
