GOODRICH have won the GB Liners Marches Cricket League for the first time since 2006 following an excellent season.

The villagers have won 15 of their 17 matches so far, with the other two games being a cancellation and an abandonment.

That abandonment came last Saturday when bad weather saw their match against nearest rivals Luctonians come to a premature end.

But the match still saw Chris Tookey snap up seven wickets that saw Lucs bowled out for 182.

Only James Platford (51) and Chris Burke (47) scored any runs of note for Lucs, with James O'Brien and Joe Provis also helping themselves to wickets.

But it has been Mark Bradford who has been key to Goodrich's bowling attack this season.

Bradford has claimed 50 wickets at an average of 9.90, with his best haul being 5-16.

It is the second successive season that Bradford has performed well with the ball, with his performances last season earning him the bowler of the year prize.

The top batsman for Goodrich this campaign has been Rory Jackson, with the opener hitting three 50's as well as a century.

Goodrich's title win means that Garnons three-year stranglehold of the division has been broken.

Garnons, who have won the league five times in the past six years, are currently fourth in the division and have only won seven times this season.

They are through to the final of the Knock-Out Cup though after beating Brockhampton 3rd by seven wickets in a match that was played as a league and cup double header.

Garnons will face Luctonians in the final on September 6.

Glangrwyney are the Division Two winners after the Welsh sider thrashed Shirebulls by seven wickets.

Second place is still up grabs though with Marden currently ahead of Dales by just two points, with Shirebulls a further 14 back.

In the final game of the season this Saturday, Marden host Builth Wells 2nd, while Dales go to Weobley and Shirebulls travel to Almeley.

Colwall 3rd are the Division Three kings, but saw their match against Strollers last Saturday abandoned.

Burghill & Tillington 4th have all but sewn up Division 4 West, with Eastnor 4th odds-on favourites to win Division 4 East.
