JAMES Burston's five-four helped Burghill & Tillington beat Redditch and rise up the Worcestershire County Cricket League Division One table.

Burston finished with figures of 5-48 that helped see off the away side.

Burghill, who have rapidly improved in the league following a poor start, posted 274-6 off their 50 overs.

They were mainly indebted to middle-order batsmen Barney Morgan and Stephen Caple, who made 69 and 50 respectively.

Morgan's knock came off just 65 balls, while Caple got his off 52.

Other useful contributions came from Ben Owens (38) and Sam Johnston (32).

Opener Rizan Mohammad Choudry made a steady 57 in reply for Redditch, but apart from Greg Chinn (47), Tom Field (40) and Ghulam Moyhuddin (34), the rest of the Redditch attack struggled.

Owen Morgan also snapped up two wickets for Burghill, with the 52-run win taking them up to sixth in the league take,

They are now just five points behind county rivals Colwall, who were thrashed by 104 runs by Pershore.

Pershore's win was mainly down to Samuel Cross, who made 93 in their 277 all out total.

Colwall shared the wickets around, with Jon Gooch, Michael Gooch and Max Backhouse all taking two, but they struggled when put into bat.

Tom Coleman top scored with 412, but Colwall were eventually bowled out for 173.

Bromyard went down to a six-wicket defeat against Droitwich in a match that was disrupted by rain.

The Herefordshire side managed to bat through their 50 overs, but only managed to reach 191-8.

Droitwich's innings were reduced to 44 overs when the heavens opened, but they still got to their total with over three overs left.

David Taylor top scored for Bromyard with 44.

In Division Two, Wormelow went down to a seven-wicket defeat against Worcester Dominies after being bowled out for 130.

Only Brent Hartley (36), Samuel Charles (25), Jamie Langford (13) and Cameron Bateman (10) got into double figures for the villagers.

It was also a bad day at the office for Bartestree & Lugwardine, whose Division Three promotion hopes were dented by Cleobury Mortimer.

Matt Ashcroft took 4-34 for Bartestree that saw Cleobury bowled out for 184, but the Herefordshire side were then blitzed when they were put into bat.

Jack Trattell, David Robinson and Ryan Trattell all went for a duck as Bartestree were skittled out for just 94.

Ross-on-Wye were also thrashed in the same division, with Himbleton winning by nine wickets.

Opener James Tiffen made 35 for Ross, but that came off 100 balls.

Ross were eventually bowled out for 134, which was never going to be enough.

Jon Critchlow smashed 31 off 25 balls that saw Himbleton reach their target off just 22.4 overs.
