DAVE Bannerman hit a marvellous double hundred for Wormelow 2nd on Saturday to become the club's record league run scorer.

Bannerman smashed 26 four's and seven sixes in his 212 as Wormelow finished on a massive 451-3 off their 50 overs against Malvern 2nd.

His knock was also the highest ever in the Worcestershire County Cricket League.

Teenager Oliver Rogoff also had a fine game for the villagers, with the 14-year-old posting 85, while Robbie Stoneadge scored 64.

George Lancaster and captain Tom Cutler then did the damage with the ball, with Lancaster finishing with figures of 3-28 and Cutler 3-32 as Malvern were skittled out for 183.

"It was quite a remarkable feat," said Cutler.

"It was the highest ever league score and the highest ever for Wormelow.

"He has been in and out of form recently, so I was really proud of him."

Cutler added that Rogoff is also primed for good things.

"He has taken to cricket like a duck to water and in a couple of years could be pushing for a first team place," said Cutler.

The first team also had a great day, with Lee Watkins' 112 helping them to a 149-run thrashing over Malvern in Division Two.
