CHRIS Boroughs made a captain's innings as his century helped Brockhampton ease to a comfortable 125-run win against Kenilworth Gardens in Birmingham & District Premier Cricket League Premier Division.

The win lifts Brockhampton above Kenilworth in the league table and eases any pressure the villagers may have had following a difficult start to the campaign.

Borough's knock came off just 116 balls, while he also snapped up three wickets when bowling.

Put into bat after losing the toss, Brockhampton made a competitive 260-6 off their 50 overs.

Adam Hewlett was the first to go when he was caught by Nick Sale off Nathan Edwards' delivery before Australian Danny Irvine departed after being clean bowled by Sitanshu Kotak. Brockhampton were at that stage 124-2, with Boroughs imperious at the crease.

Joe Crichard made 21 before he was trapped LBW, with Broughs the next victim to go in the same manner after making a fantastic 101.

Harshad Patel (15) soon left the field after being stumped by Stale, with Nicholas Powell (35) the final batsman to go.

Kenilworth were always struggling in chasing down their target, with Broughs removing Nick Seager, Scott Stenning and Keith Bell to leave them 64-3.

Nicholas Powell then came to fore, taking the wickets of Martin Donald, Nathan Edwards and Ross Parnell before Hewlertt bowled Udit Talati.

Hewlett then took the wickets of Nick Stale and Matthew Hancock to also finish with a three-four.

Eastnor were without their strongest bowlers against Bridgnorth In Division Two, which showed in a six-wicket defeat.

Atiq Ur Rehman, who has figures of 3-12 in Eastnor's win against Halesowen, had to return to his native Pakistan due to the death of his brother.

And Eastnor's bowlers always struggled against Bridgnorth's attack, with Ryan Lockley (92 not out) and Simon Gregory (75) being the pick of the batsmen.

After electing to bat after winning the toss, Eastnor posted 249, with Zimbabwean Jack Myers top scoring with 82.

Opener Andrew Fisher also hit a half century, but intimately, their total of 249 was not enough.
