JOE Crichard's century was in vain as Brockhampton lost by five wickets to Kidderminster Victoria in their opening Birmingham & District Premier Cricket League Premier Division game.

Crichard finished unbeaten on 101 as Brockhampton posted 238-6 off their 50 overs.

But Kidderminster only needed 43 overs to reach their target, with Nathan Round (82 not out) and Matthew Pardoe (73) the pick of their batsmen.

After electing to bat after winning the toss, Brockhampton soon lost a wicket when Adam Hewlett was caught by Thomas Kimberlin off Michael Hill.

But Henry Langford and captain Chris Boroughs steadied the ship before Pardoe trapped Boroughs leg before wicket on 31.

Langford then quickly followed to leave Brockhampton on 74-3.

But Crichard batted superbly and formed a useful partnership with Harshad Patel.

The latter was eventually run out in 27 before Nicholas Powell went the same way on three.

Chris Powell then went for a duck after only facing three deliveries.

But Chrichard and Jack Aldous-Fountain stood firm to ensure Brockhampton did not lose any more wickets.

But Pardoe proved he was useful with the bat too as his knock, along with Rounds, secured Kidderminster the win.

It was also bad news for Eastnor who were thrashed by 169 runs by Old Elizabethans in Division 2.

Jack Sunders (54), Damon Gariff (39), Jamie Boyle (28) and John Major (27) all posted useful runs as Old Elizabethans posted 250-6 off their 50 overs.

Sajid Ali (2-24) and Tareq Jamil (2-48) were the pick of the Eastnor bowlers.

But they never looked like reaching their target and were skittled out for just 81, Faisal Khalid top scoring with 19.

The seconds also suffered a hammering against Old Elizabethans, losing by 217 runs.

Brockhampton 2nd lost to Kidderminster Victoria by seven wickets.
