ANDREW Jones 's 72 ensured Bartestree & Lugwardine earned the county bragging rights against Ross-on-Wye in Worcestershire County League Division 3.

Jones' knock came off just 68 balls before he was clean bowled by James Tiffen.

If he was the attacking player for Bartestree, Nick Freeman was certainly the defensive one as he took 168 balls to finish not out on 22.

Earlier, Bartestree had Tom Strangward to thank as his five wickets saw Ross skittled out for 181.

Strangward's first victim was Jack Donovan, before he dismissed Harry King, Thomas Porter, Tony Leslie and Jim Lewis.

Ben Simpkin was also among the wickets by taking three, with Luke Sparrow and Ryan Trattell getting one apiece as Bartestree won by five wickets.

Ross' top scorer was Porter on 66, with King (2-50) being the pick of their bowlers.

Tim Boulter's 65 was not enough for Wormelow as Stourport-on-Severn secured a winning draw in their Division 2 match.

Lee Watkins also made a century for Wormelow, while Ben Owens was caught on 49 as Wormelow made 291-7 off their 50 overs.

But Stourport were in fine batting form, with Kevin Renecke agonisingly one run short of making a century before he was caught by Lee Watkins off Edward Melly's delivery.

Ryan Delo also finished on 92 not out as Stourport made 266-3 off 43.1 overs.

In the second XI league, George Godsall's unbeaten knock of 104 saw Bromyard to a nine-wicket win against Bredon, with Chris Simmonds finishing unbeaten on 54.

Burghill & Tillington were also fine knick as they powered to a nine-wicket success against Lye; Phil Knight finishing unbeaten on 59.

Alun Evans' 51 was not enough for Bartestree & Lugwardine as they were thrashed by lost by five wickets to Kidderminster Victoria.

But it was better news for Wormelow, who beat Old Vigornians by five wickets, with Robbie Stonadge and Tom Cutler making 48 and 44 respectively.

Halesowen thrashed Ross-on-Wye by a massive 175 wins.
