BROMYARD Cricket Club have re-signed former Sri Lankan test player Dinusha Fernando as their overseas player for next season.

Fernando has been playing first class and list A cricket for Colombo Cricket Club in hos home country this winter.

His season there finishes just in time for the start of the English campaign next month.

The 35-year-old played two test matches and a one-day international for Sri Lanka against England in the 2003-04 season.

In three seasons at Bromyard, he has racked up 2,576 runs in just 56 matches in the Worcestershire County League, at an average of 75.76. His knock includes seven hundreds and 17 50s.

With the ball, he has taken 113 wickets at an average of 22.21, including four five-wicket hauls.

Bromyard’s 2014 overseas professional, Ahmed Jamal, meanwhile, has enjoyed a fine season for National Bank in Pakistan and recently appeared for Pakistan ‘A’ against Kenya.

Bromyard finished second from bottom in Division One of the Worcestershire County League last season, but were reprieved due to Harvington not being able to field three teams for the forthcoming campaign. They start their season with a home derby against Colwall on April 25.
