DESPITE suffering final day defeats, both Brockhampton and Eastnor finished in respectable mid-table positions in their respective Birmingham League divisions.

In the Premier Division, Brockhampton lost wickets steadily after being invited to bat first at Barnt Green.

Seven players got into double-figures - the best of them Jack Aldous-Fountain with 31 - but no-one went on to make a major score as the villagers were dismissed for 158.

Left-arm paceman Jamie McIlroy (2-51) took a couple of early wickets but the home side eased in with eight wickets in hand.

A 59-run over Eastnor was not enough to give Penkridge promotion in Division Two with the Staffordshire side finishing in third place, four spots ahead of the Herefordshire side.

Sajid Ali (3-34), Atiq ur Rehman (2-34) and Jatin Kohli (2-41) picked up wickets for Eastnor but were unable to prevent Penkridge from posting a useful 234.

In reply, Atiq gave another reminder of his quality with a superb 92 but received little support from his team-mates with only Tareq Jamil (14) and Sajid (13) getting into double-figures as the villagers were dismissed for 175.
