BROMYARD will have to face up to life in Division Two of the Worcestershire County League next season after their relegation from Division One was confirmed with a final-day defeat at champions Worcester.

Worcester piled up a formidable 282-8 from their allotted overs while the main wicket-takers were Will Yarnold (2-34), George Leighton (2-44) and Mike Reece (2-46).

George Leighton's brother Greg (47) and father Jeremy (33) battled valiantly for Bromyard but the Flagonners Green club were dismissed for 121.

Bromyard drop to Division Two despite having Division One's leading wicket-taker, with Ahmed Jamal finishing with 53 victims.

Second-leading wicket-taker in the Division was Colwall's left-arm spinner Wehan Joubert and his efforts received greater reward with the Malvern Hills club finishing in a creditable sixth place on their return to the top flight.

Colwall, however, found runners-up Pershore too strong on the season's final day when they were beaten by six wickets despite a fine century by Tom Coleman (120) underpinning a useful total of 265.

Division Two champions Burghill & Tillington completed their 16th win in 22 outings with a seven-wicket success at Worcester Dominies.

Ben George (3-45) took his wicket tally beyond the 50-mark as the hosts were bowled out for 205.

And then Edward Symonds (78) and Mark Preece (67) were the principal contributors as Burghill eased home.

Wormelow were unable to prevent Bewdley from joining Burghill & Tillington in the top flight next season when the Worcestershire side gained a four-wicket success at Kennel Field.

Wormelow struggled to recover from the early loss of Jamie Banfield, making his final appearance after two prolific years with the villagers before returning to Australia, and Tim Boulter, who were both dismissed for ducks in the first over.

Matt Evans (67) batted well for Wormelow but their total of 196-9 failed to provide sufficient challenge for the visitors.

In Division Three, Ross went down by six wickets to visiting Bredon after only posting 108-9 from their allotted overs.

But it was an altogether happier day at Bartestree & Lugwardine where the villagers celebrated their Division Four championship win by beating Kidderminster by 88 runs.

Although Nick Frith (33) and Steve Beach (32) batted well in the top order, it took an unbroken last-wicket stand of 63 between brothers Marcus (38 not out) and Matt Ashcroft (24 not out) to lift the home side's total to 210-9.

When Kidderminster replied, Matt Ashcroft (2-24) made the early breakthrough before spinners Ryan Trattell (4-30) and Luke Sparrow (3-20) rounded off Bartestree's win.
