EASTNOR paid the penalty for losing the toss in a rain-affected clash with near rivals Old Elizabethans in Division Two of the Birmingham League.

In a rain-reduced innings of 36 overs, Eastnor were able to put together only 123-9.

Overseas star Atiq Ur Rehman top-scored with 35 and there were also double-figures contributions from former Harvington batsman Dave Waters (23), Tareq Jamil (15), Jabran Khalid (11), Sunil Rahi (11) and Mahaaz Ahmed (10).

Herefordshire under-17 off-spinner Taylor Pugh was the pick of the Old Elizabethans attack with 3-22, while Joe Taylor, with 2-14 from 11 overs, backed him up well.

Taylor (35) assisted Johan Smit (67 not out) in rebuilding the Old Elizabethans innings after Jatin Kohli (2-23) picked up a couple of early wickets to reduce the visitors to 14-2.

Taylor and Smit added 58 for the third wicket and, after Taylor's dismissal, Smit and Damon Garif (13 not out) guided their side to victory with 11 overs to spare.

Brockhampton's match at Knowle and Dorridge in the Premier Division failed to get underway due to the wet weather.
