WHILE youth is the key at Ewyas Harold, it's the other end of the age spectrum which dominates in the Eastnor 4th side.

"This team is all about giving cricket to those who want to play, whatever their age," said skipper and organiser Steve Emery.

"We are young at heart, we can't see the ball, we can't run so we field from the boundary in.

"So we have a decent 40-over match, hopefully coming out on top and then we visit the bar, where perhaps our real strength lies."

The former Hereford United midfielder has recruited a number of well-know local cricketing names.

"Everyone who has played cricket around here will know these names and what they have done," he said.

"At the beginning my idea was, because Eastnor have a new pavilion and is an ideal setting, to get an old vets side out and invite friends whom I had played with and against to come and play. This is our second season and we are thoroughly enjoying it.

"We grumble among ourselves but once we cross the white line, it's serious stuff but win, lose or draw, we just go out to enjoy it."
