TWO of the experienced members of the Eastnor squad explained the importance of the team to them.

"I hadn't played for a number of years and Malcolm Hughes came up to me and said that the club was struggling with it fourth team and there were some older people playing that I would know," said former Bromyard and Colwall skipper Richard Williams.

"So I thought it would be a good way of getting back to playing social cricket again - I needed to get back my social life which I hadn't got.

"Although the cricketing standard is poor, I've really enjoyed the company of the people I'm playing with."

"I still really enjoy enjoy playing the game," added Rod Jarrett, whose association with the Eastnor club goes back almost half-a-century.

"Division Five of the Marches League gives a chance to the older players to still have a game; it's enjoyable and it doesn't matter who you are playing, win or lose - we've all been there, seen it and done it."
